Tory Mathias is a Co-Founder of The Standard Legal Recruiting and serves as The Standard’s Head of Brand & Engagement. A former practicing attorney, she supports lateral moves across AmLaw firms, regional and boutique practices, and corporate legal departments.
Tory transitioned into recruiting after graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law and briefly practicing law. Over the last decade at a national legal recruiting agency, she was consistently recognized as a top performer and ultimately transitioned into leadership, where she was valued for her ability to balance big-picture strategy with a people-centered approach.
She combines genuine connection with a thoughtful, strategic process designed to support long-term, successful matches. Providing top-tier service and serving as a strong, trusted business partner are her primary motivations in every search.
Based in Charlotte, NC, Tory is actively engaged in the local legal community through the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Charlotte, where she has served on both boards in various capacities. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling (especially getting off the beaten path), staying active, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Howard.
